💖 Maria Mojo Mondays: The Secret Code to Every Happy, Healthy Relationship
Because how you love, lead, and listen shapes every part of your happiness.
Every truly happy life — personally or professionally — comes down to one thing:
✨ the quality of your relationships.
When your relationships are thriving, you thrive.
When they’re fractured, your energy, creativity, and joy take the hit.
This month, as my wife and I celebrate 34 years together, I’m reminded that love is the ultimate classroom for growth.
Our official anniversary is on October 12th, and every year I think the same thing:
💖 I wouldn’t want to do this life with anyone else.
💛 Our Journey Together
We’ve thrived through some of life’s biggest chapters:
✅ Leaving corporate (both of us!) to create the freedom we craved.
✅ Navigating my MS diagnosis — and learning that a diagnosis doesn’t define you.
✅ Packing up our life in New York and moving clear across the country to Oregon (and never looking back).
✅ Building our Lovin’ Life Coaching business — me out front, her running the show behind the scenes.
✅ Cross-country road trips galore — chasing sunsets, mountains, and memories.
✅ Moving my elderly parents from NY to Oregon, caring for them, and navigating the emotional rollercoaster of loss and legacy together.
Through it all, we’ve laughed, cried, disagreed, dreamed big, and always — always — chosen each other.
✨ Mojo Truth
Here’s what I know after 34 years of love, loss, laughter, and growth:
💫 All of life is about relationships.
Your spouse.
Your kids.
Your coworkers.
Your friends.
Your neighbors.
Yourself.
The way you show up in your closest relationships is the way you show up in all relationships — at work, in friendships, even with yourself.
Because relationships are where your deepest lessons show up…
and where your biggest growth happens.
💡 Mojo Reframe
Most people think thriving relationships are built on chemistry or compatibility.
They’re not.
They’re built on understanding how people are wired — including yourself — and honoring that wiring with compassion, not judgment.
I’m a YELLOW/RED.
My wife is a WHITE/YELLOW.
Our different “core codes” don’t always match pace — but that’s our magic.
We understand each other at that deeper level.
If you’ve ever felt misunderstood, unseen, or “too much” in a relationship, you’re not broken — you just haven’t learned your code yet.
When you know your Color Code — and can recognize someone else’s — it’s like finding the Rosetta Stone of connection.
You start seeing why people react the way they do.
And suddenly, that person who used to frustrate you? You just get them.
And the relationship improves.
💬 Coaching Mojo: Our Love Lessons After 34 Years
❤️ 1. Don’t try to change each other — learn each other.
It’s not just about knowing your partner’s personality and honoring it. It’s about listening.
Truly listening — not forming your next answer while they’re still talking.
When you listen to understand, not to win, solutions appear almost effortlessly.
💛 2. Gratitude changes everything.
We make a conscious effort to come from gratitude every single day.
Our positive mindset — shaped by years of coaching and growth — helps us not just survive adversity but thrive through it.
💙 3. Give each other space to feel and process.
We allow each other to feel what we feel, even when we don’t understand it.
Sometimes love means giving your partner the room to breathe, reflect, and come back in their own time.
🤍 4. Laugh often — especially when things go sideways.
Laughter heals. It lightens the load and reminds you that you’re on the same team.
34 years later, I can honestly say this:
Love isn’t a straight line — it’s an ever-evolving journey that grows richer when you both commit to growing with each other, not in spite of each other.
💫 And here’s the thing — these lessons don’t just apply to romantic love.
They show up in how you lead your team, support your friends, care for your family, and even how you speak to yourself.
Because every relationship you nurture — at home or at work — mirrors the one you have with yourself.
💖 Mojo Love
Love isn’t about perfection.
It’s about partnership, patience, humor, growth, and choosing each other — again and again — no matter what life throws your way.
It’s also about letting each other be true to your core.
Understanding your partner’s unique personality, honoring what makes them tick, and giving them the space to be fully themselves.
Because that’s where real love — and real connection — lives. 💕
When people meet us, they often say they can feel our connection — that our relationship has a special energy.
Every time I hear that, I’m reminded how lucky I am to have found the one who truly gets me, loves me, and walks beside me through it all. ❤️
