Maria Mojo Mondays - Mental Minimalism

Decluttering Thoughts That Drain Your Energy!

Hey Mindset Maverick,

Let’s talk clutter.
Not the laundry. Not your email inbox.
Not those closets with clothes you haven’t worn in a gazillion years! OMG

I’m talking about the mental chaos that’s draining your spark and hijacking your day.

You know the stuff I am talking about:
🔻 Overthinking every little thing
🔻 Spinning worst-case scenarios of what could happen
🔻 Rerunning old conversations like you’re stuck on a bad Netflix loop
🔻 Obsessing over regrets or “what ifs” that haven’t even happened
🔻 Thinking about the “signs” that prove you’re not where you should be yet (spoiler: there’s no timeline)

Mental clutter is exhausting.

It’s sneaky, it’s heavy, and it takes up prime real estate in your mind - space that should be reserved for clarity, confidence, and creativity.

This week, we’re doing a Mental Minimalism Reset.

Because your mind deserves to feel as spacious and powerful as your future.

Step 1: Identify the Thought Clutter

Start by noticing what thoughts are taking up the most mental real estate right now.

Ask yourself:
🔹 What am I looping on over and over again?
🔹 Is this thought energizing me - or draining the hell out of me?
(Your body knows. It always knows. Tune in.)
🔹 Does it even belong to me, or did I pick it up from someone else’s expectations?

You see the pattern here … often, what’s cluttering our minds is either disempowering stories that we don’t realize we are affirming each and every day or thoughts you inherited from society, family, or fear - and they’ve been crashing in your “mental house” without paying rent!

Sometimes your brain is just stuck on an outdated loop that has no business being in your current reality.

Step 2: The “Mental Inbox Zero” Exercise

Write down the top 5 thoughts that are cluttering your mind today.

Now look at each one and decide:
🗑️ Delete: This thought is not useful. It’s going.
🗃️ File Away: It might need attention later, but not now.
✅ Take Action: If it requires action, do it - or schedule it.

This isn’t just mental triage - it’s a power move.

You stop being a hostage to your thoughts and start running the show like the CEO of your brain.

Step 3: Create Thought Space on Purpose

Clearing your mind doesn’t mean creating a void. It means choosing what gets to stay.

Replace clutter with clarity:
🔹 A new mantra: “If it drains me, it doesn’t stay.”
🔹 A daily pause: 2 minutes of silence, no phone, just deep breathing.
🔹 A powerful reframe: Instead of “What if this goes wrong?” try “What if this goes right?”

I teach my clients to play the “What if UP” game (the positive scenario of what could happen) instead of engaging in that “What if DOWN” game (the negative scenario that you are worried about happening) … it’s a “game”-changer!

Seriously, your brain LOVES a good “what if” story. Just feed it the right one.

You don’t need 20 new thoughts today.
You need a few intentional ones that actually serve you.

Quick side note:
My wife has this magical ability to fall asleep in 30 seconds flat - even after watching some twisted murder mystery that has my brain spinning in 12 directions.

Me? Not a chance.

I’ll be in bed thinking about the plot, my coaching business, humanity, the meaning of life.

She’ll say, “Just clear your mind - don’t think about anything.”
And I’m like... HAVE YOU MET MY BRAIN? 😂

But here’s the thing: I’ve stopped trying to go thoughtless.

Instead, I choose better thoughts.

If my mind’s gonna be active anyway, it might as well be working for me - not against me.

That’s when I’ll cue up one of my custom meditations - the same ones I teach my clients. They’re short, simple, and powerful enough to shift the vibe fast. They don’t “silence” your thoughts - they redirect them to peace, purpose, and that
everything’s-working-out-for-me” energy.

They’re like a mindset massage at midnight. ✨

And that’s the whole point - I choose thoughts that empower, support, and remind me that everything is working out for my highest good.

So... will you choose them with me this week? 💫

Final Mojo Boost

Your energy is sacred.
Your mind is premium, high-rise real estate.
So why let self-doubt, comparison, and outdated crap rent space in your penthouse?

Declutter. Simplify. Make room for the mindset that builds the life you actually want.

🔥 What’s one thought you’re choosing to delete this week?
